Folio Information and Variants
The high standing of Moulu is attested to by the early 1530s French publication of the anthology Liber decem missarum… ed. Jacques Moderne, 1532. Here, Moulu’s masses opens the book which also transmits works by Mouton, Richafort and Lupus for instance. The mass is also found in VatG XII. 2, ff. 233v-254, what is now the Montserrat source MontsM 771, ff. 73v-96r and ‘s HerAB 72B, ff. 40v-62r.
Very interesting is that the Agnus [III] found in the hand-drawn sources is omitted in the printed edition and is replaced with the direction to re-sing the Agnus [I]. Also of interest is that the canonic instruction to sing each repeat of the structural motif a pitch lower is not found in the MontsM 771 transmission.
